Paint me dazed ofjared: teen daze - shine on, you crazy white cap halcyon beats, psychedelic effects applied to vacation footage from a forgotten era, disembodied yet soulful vocals; this is everything it could be expected to be and more.

Up next: grimy indie! Well, grimy indie that’s listenable. With violins. There’s something of Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) in the vocal style. I can’t wait for this chap’s album to come out.

Bellowhead - Jordan →
Saw this lot (and there are a lot of them) at the weekend and they put on one of the best live shows I’ve seen in years. Brilliant blend of folkishness, brass, and big powerful harmonies. They were voted the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award’s Best Live Act in 2005, and they are just pretty bloomin’ awesome. Jonny Kearney and Lucy Farrell provided support - gonna slap some of their stuff...

Nice nice nice tune. So much variation in textures over a single theme. It really takes off in the second half - around 3:00 or so. Something in the synth work reminds me of “Some Kind of Nature” from the new Gorillaz album.

For A Minor Reflection - Atta →
An Icelandic band who play big huge enormous awesome post-rock. I’d love to see this lot live - there’s a hell of a lot of energy in this track. It gets pretty John Murphy-esque towards the end, but then who said that was a bad thing?
